2011 marks the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the U.S. Civil War, and these impressively informative websites will help you brush up on your Civil War knowledge. They also offer information on ongoing commemorative events throughout the next several years:

A fascinating site where you may search for battlefields near you and even download “battle apps” for your iPhone!  Don’t miss the History Center (click the Education tab at the top of your screen).  From the Civil War Trust, an organization dedicated to preserving America’s Civil War battlefields.

This History Channel link will take you directly to an interactive site on the Civil War.  Their site also includes videos and a downloadable day-by-day Civil War iPad app (“Get daily Civil War updates from April 12, 2011 through April 26, 2015”).
